New PegaRULES Process Commander Introduces Smart BPM Features to Improve Process Productivity and Agility
Integrated rules and business process management software allows companies to automate work and change their business processes and practices in real time
Pegasystems Inc. (NASDAQ: PEGA), a provider of smart business process management (BPM) software, today announced a new version of PegaRULES Process Commander, software designed to help companies improve their business processes.
PegaRULES Process Commander allows organizations to build more intelligence into their BPM applications, and to empower business people to manage and help improve the practices and processes needed to run their business.
PegaRULES Process Commander 3.2 incorporates a range of new declarative rules, allowing business users and developers to build and modify a richer set of BPM applications. Process Commander allows companies to take their process management solutions beyond just the retrieval, routing, and reporting on work, by offering the ability to research, respond and resolve work - automatically. Other enhancements include simplified integration with external systems, and improved process and system administration.
The new release is a major step forward in the company's mission to deliver 'smart BPM' - rules-based business process management designed for intelligent productivity and the extended enterprise. Pegasystems' goal is to provide the combination of rich workflow, integration, and rules-driven business adaptability that customers are demanding for the automation of processes and a strategic competitive edge.
PegaRULES Process Commander extends best practices throughout a company in the form of automated business rules - the practices and procedures that define how an organization works. When a company inputs their organization's rules into PegaRULES Process Commander, the software's intelligent, rules-based engine not only gathers the relevant criteria and data, but also makes a decision and helps to resolve the work, automating previously manual tasks.
"A BPM solution is not complete without easy-to-change and externalized business rules that add intelligence to the enterprise architecture and, specifically, to business processes," said Jim Sinur, vice president and research director, Gartner, Inc. "In order to fulfill BPM initiatives, businesses need both a rules engine and process management tools that manage the rules and work and change processes daily, if needed."
PegaRULES Process Commander V3.2 can bring several business benefits to organizations. First, PegaRULES Process Commander V3.2 provides several pre-configured rules, allowing business people to build sophisticated decision logic into their BPM applications in order to automate the assignment, execution and transfer of complex work. Second, with easy-to-use forms and a patented rules engine, developers and business analysts can build and modify process flows and complex business logic in order to respond to changing regulatory issues, competitive pressures, new partnerships, and other business situations. Third, PegaRULES Process Commander V3.2, based on a modern Java and XML architecture, works with installed enterprise applications and Web services using technologies which operate in a distributed and heterogeneous environment and can support thousands of concurrent users.
"The newest version of Process Commander incorporates a rich new set of rule types, along with flexible, ease-of-use BPM features for both business users and developers that we believe will be beneficial for our customers and partners," said Paul McNulty, vice president, PegaRULES. "With PegaRULES Process Commander V3.2, we are able to address top customer and partner priorities, such as rapidly implementing and changing business decisions in real time; helping to resolve business problems when they occur; easily deploying Process Commander applications; and integrating with existing infrastructure and applications by assimilating processes with systems."
PegaRULES Process Commander V3.2 supports an extended range of platforms, including Sun Solaris(TM) Version 8 and 9, Windows(R) 2000 Server and Windows(R) 2000 Professional, AIX Version 5.1. It supports popular applications services such as IBM's WebSphere and BEA's WebLogic. It complies with Web Services protocols including SOAP, WSDL, and XML, and facilitates traditional services such as CORBA, COM, EJBs and MQ - helping to enable existing infrastructures and business processes to be integrated into a Web Services strategy. Whereas traditional methods require developers to learn an application programming interface (API), PegaRULES Process Commander V3.2 resembles human logic semantics, providing intuitive integration rule-forms so that a single click will initiate the rule to write and deploy the appropriate components or code - making what was once a technical challenge dramatically easier, helping to result in faster time to market.
