International Women’s Day 2024

At Pega, we know we can achieve more when we create a culture in which everyone experiences a collective sense of belonging and feels valued for who they are. We are caring, collaborative and committed to balancing work with well-being.

In the dynamic landscape of today, where women juggle various roles constantly, it's crucial to create an environment where women feel empowered to embrace their diverse roles and thrive. Pega launched a space where women can unleash their full potential at work every single day with Women@Pega, currently the largest of Pega’s seven ERGs.

Women@Pega consists of approximately 20% of the Pega population and is a safe space offering loads of opportunities for its members to thrive. Being a co-chair for the ERG, I feel privileged to be part of such a vibrant community of members and allies – our collective activities center around Recruitment, Retention, Career Advancement, Allyship & Inclusion, and Social Impact – to drive change. This community is a golden mine – I will just pick one topic very near and dear to me: mentorship. We all need role models and inspiring people surrounding us, as this is the shortcut to evolution. Pega has a dedicated mentorship program, which is amplified by W@P, and I am proof of the success of this program. By having mentors who share feedback, guide, and come with a different perspective, I was able not only to evolve as an individual, but also in my career. And the next step from “mentorship” is “sponsorship.” “Trust” is one of the key outcomes of a mentorship and by building the trust, a mentorship will evolve into sponsorship.

The success of the Women@Pega ERG is attributed to the amazing support of our executive sponsor, Jeff Taylor, Chief Strategy and Growth Officer, along with the Women@Pega core team. Furthermore, the active involvement and support of our diverse membership base, allies, and the Women@Pega global leadership team, spanning across various regional chapters, significantly contribute to our collective success.

March 8th is International Women’s Day, where we join others around the world in celebrating the many achievements made by women of all ages and backgrounds. The theme this year is #InspireInclusion, which aligns with our mission:

"Changing the way Pega lives and breathes gender equality by empowering women to grow, achieve, and exceed their personal and professional goals."

Each year, Pega celebrates and recognizes International Women’s Month throughout March. This year we have planned a series of events focused on #InspireInclusion, aiming to create awareness of gender equality and promote inclusivity, including a keynote, speed mentoring sessions with Pega executives, vision board sessions, and volunteer activities supporting different nonprofit organizations. We encourage not only our members and allies but everyone at Pega to attend.

Allyship, actively promoting the culture of inclusion through intentional, positive, and conscious efforts that benefit people as a whole is a key contributor to the success of our ERG. Inclusion can only be successful if there is a bias for action on acting as an ally and if all can make their opinions and voices heard, regardless of their cultural background, religion, ethnicity, etc.

At Pega we “walk the talk” on Allyship. In addition to our dedicated programs, this month Women@Pega will launch the Allyship & International Women’s Day Badge on Fond, Pega’s peer-to-peer recognition platform. For each recognition sent in March, Pega will donate to ‘Girls in Tech’ - a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating the gender gap in the tech-space. So, go ahead, join us in celebrating your allies and remarkable female colleagues!
