Our Employee Spotlight series highlights #LifeAtPega for team members around the globe. Meet Mahesh K., a senior manager on the product development team in our Hyderabad office. How has Mahesh “developed” (ha, ha!) since he’s joined Pega? He shares some thoughts about the Pega community, provides advice for others looking for a career at Pega, and gives us some insight on his unique hobby outside of work.

What do you love about Pega from a technology perspective?

I really love our tagline Build for Change®. Typically software is delivered fitted and finished for the customer, who can’t further modify it easily. What I love about Pega software is you can always keep customizing.

What do you find most enjoyable about your role as a manager?

Leading change and sharing my past experiences and knowledge. I find it rewarding mentoring my teams and setting a clear vision for their own growth.

How have you grown during your time here?

I’ve had the opportunity to work with multiple functional areas since I’ve joined, including development, testing, release management, tech writing, and product management. This has given me a really well-rounded knowledge of the product. It’s been a great learning experience. I’ve learned a lot about CRM, in general – this was not something I had sufficient experience with prior to joining. I came here with a development background in online gaming and data security, so it’s nice to now add CRM to my portfolio.

What do you look for in terms of qualities when hiring for your team?

I look for someone that constantly pushes themselves. I prefer team members who are always looking for new challenges. I believe that’s how you grow.

What piece of advice do you have for job seekers looking to work here?

When you join Pega my advice is to start with a clean slate. Those who are typically successful here tend to keep an open mind and are always open to learning. 

What is something your coworkers would be surprised to know about you? Do you have a special passion or hobby that keeps you busy outside of Pega?

I have a passion for researching farming and agriculture. Food is such a fundamental part of living and most people don’t really think about where their food comes from. I love understanding this and trying to brainstorm easier ways to make food more accessible.

Wow, that’s so interesting! I’m always amazed at how many unique and fascinating people we have here at Pega.

Final question: In your opinion, what’s one quality that makes someone successful at Pega?

There are certainly several qualities that make someone successful here, but if I had to choose one, it would be collaboration. I think the best way to learn new ideas and concepts is through the network of brilliant colleagues we have – I definitely try to take advantage of that.
