Pegasystems VP Authors a Practical Guide to Service-Oriented Enterprises
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 18 — Service Oriented Enterprises, a book by noted Business Process Management (BPM) expert Dr. Setrag Khoshafian, Vice President BPM Technology, Pegasystems (Nasdaq: PEGA), provides a practical guide to making the right choices about service oriented enterprises.
"The reality of today's business is no longer one where change is an unusual phenomenon," commented Dr. Khoshafian. "Change is now the norm and the capacity for consumer-sensitive, fluid transition is vital to business survival. Service Oriented Enterprises explores how the fundamental dynamics of a business can be altered by building on the real-time capabilities of the Internet and the automation of business policies."
The book illustrates the relationship between enterprise performance management, business process management suites (BPMS) and SOA infrastructures, contrasting newer service-oriented methodologies with traditional and iterative approaches. It also discusses how organizations can combine the best features from virtual, extended and resilient enterprises to serve not just their customers, but also their trading partners, shareholders and employees.
"Setrag serves as one of the industry's foremost authorities," said Alan Trefler, CEO and Chairman, Pegasystems. "This book provides an excellent illustration of bridging business-focused platforms with infrastructure- focused tools. By bringing the concept of service orientation from the IT department to the boardroom, Service Oriented Enterprises provides a framework for narrowing the gap between IT and business to drive competitive advantage."
The author will be speaking on "Building Competitive Business Advantage in BPM — the Strategic Business Value Methodology" and "The Service Oriented Enterprise" at this week's PegaWORLD Thought Leadership conference in Boston. Dr. Khoshafian has more than 15 years of hands-on experience designing and implementing enterprise BPM systems. He is the lead author of eight books on a wide variety of technologies, and has taught graduate and undergraduate technology courses at various universities. He holds masters and doctoral degrees in computer science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
