Pegasystems Thought Leader Dr. Setrag Khoshafian Contributes to the 2010 BPM & Workflow Handbook
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – June 23, 2010 – Pegasystems Inc. (NASDAQ: PEGA), the leader in business process management (BPM) and a leading provider of customer relationship management (CRM) solutions, today announced that Dr. Setrag Khoshafian, vice president of BPM technology at Pegasystems and noted BPM industry expert, has contributed a chapter to the 2010 BPM & Workflow Handbook. This powerful Handbook, published annually since 2001 in collaboration with international standards body the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC) by Future Strategies Inc., serves as a recognized authority on BPM and is used as a resource by members of academia, business, and government worldwide.
The BPM & Workflow Handbook includes a special spotlight on Business Intelligence (BI) to illustrate how BPM and BI are increasingly intertwined. Dr. Khoshafian’s contribution, titled “Predictive BPM,” details how predictive analytics can help organizations continually monitor and adapt their operations—especially those realized through BPM suites—to anticipate future behavior and run their businesses more efficiently and competitively. In addition, Dr. Khoshafian outlines the robust capabilities in a BPM suite that are essential for predictive BPM. Pegasystems, which closed its acquisition of Chordiant in April, features an award-winning SmartBPM® suite and leading predictive analytics capabilities that enable optimized customer experience strategies. Through predictive and adaptive analytics organizations can understand, anticipate and personalize the customer experience.
“Predictive BPM is quite compelling and can be used to detect business patterns and then invoke or operationalize the discovered rules in the context of BPM solutions,” said Dr. Khoshafian. “The concept of employing predictive analytics to understand in real-time why a variance occurs, and what to do about it moving forward, is an emerging enterprise solution that aligns business processes with business intelligence. This represents the next evolutionary step forward from conventional BPM.”
One of BPM’s early pioneers, Dr. Khoshafian is the author of several books on computing and BPM, including Service Oriented Enterprises. For the past 25 years he has invented, architected and led the development of several BPM solutions, as well as advanced database management systems research and development projects. At Pegasystems, he is responsible for leading product direction and BPM technology strategy, and is also involved in numerous technology, marketing, alliance and customer initiatives.
