Pegasystems Named As Finalist for 2006 MITX Technology Awards

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., May 31, 2006 — Pegasystems Inc. (Nasdaq: PEGA), the leader in unified process and rules technology, today announced that it has been named as a finalist for the 3rd Annual MITX Technology Awards. The MITX What's Next Forum & Technology Awards recognize innovative technologies developed in the New England area, as well as the individuals and organizations responsible for driving these advancements. The Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange (MITX) is the region's premier association for thought leadership, technology trends, business networking and professional training and development.

Pegasystems' PegaRULES Process Commander® (PRPC) software can be used wherever an organization needs to make a complex process more efficient and automated — whether in research and development, HR or sales and marketing. Organizations that start using PRPC to automate a single, back-office process can quickly deploy in 30,000-person call centers, or increase efficiencies in other high-volume processes that are core to their businesses.

Built on top of the PegaRULES enterprise rules engine, PRPC delivers Business Process Management (BPM) in a single unified application. PRPC provides leading organizations with the integration of business process and business practice to enable enterprises to manage the full lifecycle of work through to completion. This powerful combination of process and practice enables enterprises to gain strategic and competitive advantage.

"In its third year, the MITX Technology Awards have attracted some of the most distinguished technological innovations that the region has to offer," said Kiki Mills, Executive Director of MITX. "It is this tremendous interest that enables our organization to accomplish its mission of uniting the brightest minds in the technology community and honoring their outstanding achievement."

"We're elated and honored that our industry-leading PRPC software has been nominated as a finalist by MITX," said Jay Sherry, vice president, Marketing and Solution Frameworks. "Pegasystems' products have consistently been distinguished for superiority in Business Process Management, and it's largely because our customers achieve significant and vast improvements as a result of their implementations."

Pegasystems will be recognized with the other finalists in the category of operations applications at an awards ceremony attended by the region's top technology and business professionals. Winners will be announced at the ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston on Wednesday, June 7, 2006. This year's keynote speaker and special honoree is Nicholas Negroponte, co-founder of the MIT Media Lab, esteemed author and founder and Chairman of the non-profit association One Laptop per Child.

The ceremony is preceded by the What's Next Forum, a panel discussion moderated by Jason Pontin, Editor-in-Chief of Technology Review. The topic, What's Next for the Social Web, will be a forward-looking discussion about the next platforms and paradigms to shape the social web. The MITX What's Next Forum & Technology Awards are sponsored by Backbone Media, Lewis PR, Nixon Peabody LLP, Oracle, and Technology Review.
