Pegasystems to Host Second Annual Collaborative Healthcare Summit on Oct. 24

Boston event to highlight innovation and best practices; former CMS Head Don Berwick, Charlie Baker and Dr. Dana Safran to deliver keynotes

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – October 3, 2012 – Pegasystems Inc. (NASDAQ: PEGA), the leader in Business Process Management (BPM) and a leading provider of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solutions, today announced that it will host the Second Annual Collaborative Healthcare Summit on October 24, 2012 at the Park Plaza Hotel in Boston.  The event, geared for healthcare leaders, features speeches by several visionaries including Dr. Donald Berwick, former Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Charlie Baker, Executive in Residence, General Catalyst Partners, and Dr. Dana Safran, Senior Vice President, Performance Measurement and Improvement, for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.

  • Dr. Berwick, who until last December served as the head of CMS, the largest health insurance program in the U.S.  Before that, Berwick was President and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, a not-for-profit organization focused on the continual improvement of health care worldwide to achieve better care for individuals, better health for populations, and lower cost through innovation and redesign of care systems.
  • Baker, who has served in senior leadership positions including Massachusetts Secretary of Health and Human Services and CEO for Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare.  In his current role at General Catalyst Partners, Baker provides guidance and expertise to healthcare companies.
  • Dr. Safran, who leads initiatives to measure and improve healthcare quality, safety and outcomes at BCBS of Massachusetts.  Dr. Safran helped drive development of the organization’s Alternative Quality Contract, a provider contract model that employs a global budget together with performance incentives to improve healthcare quality.
  • Pega CEO and Founder Alan Trefler, who was named The American Business Award's “Software CEO of the Year” for 2009 and the “Public Company CEO of the Year” in 2011 by the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council.  Trefler presents frequently to a broad range of international audiences, and consults extensively on the use of advanced technologies and optimization of customer service.
