Dr. Setrag Khoshafian to Participate in the Workflow Management Coalition’s Process.gov Event and BPM & Workflow Handbook

CAMBRIDGE, MA – June 16,
2009
Pegasystems Inc., (NASDAQ:
PEGA), the leader in Business Process Management (BPM) software solutions,
today announced that Dr. Setrag Khoshafian, vice president of BPM technology at
Pegasystems and noted BPM industry expert, has contributed a chapter discussing
the use of BPM solutions in government to the 2009 BPM & Workflow Handbook,
published by Future Strategies, Inc., which includes a spotlight on government in
this year’s edition.  He will also be
delivering a presentation at this year’s Process.gov event in
Washington, D.C. on June 19, 2009.

Dr. Khoshafian’s presentation at this year’s Process.gov event is entitled
“Services Oriented Agencies: Enabling Agility through Transformational BPM,
Services Oriented Architecture (SOA), and Business Intelligence (BI).”  The presentation highlights the importance
for government agencies to become more transparent, efficient, agile, and
responsive to both internal and external stakeholders.  Dr. Khoshafian shows how BPM suites can help to
deliver these changes.  He also
demonstrates how service oriented agencies can foster a “culture of service”
that uses process automation for both Lean and Six Sigma continuous
improvement.

Dr. Khoshafian’s contribution to the 2009 BPM & Workflow Handbook is entitled “Managing Change with
Re-Usable Assets for Government Agencies.”
This chapter discusses how dynamic BPM repositories allow each government
agency to use common practices, while specializing for their particular agency
extensions and needs. Thus re-usable assets can be organized in different collections
pertaining to shared as well as specialized solutions for various sectors such
as healthcare, financial management, education, and national security. The
chapter illustrates how government agencies can manage change organizationally and be agile
operationally.

“We are seeing an unprecedented level of intentions for change and
modernization within federal government agencies,” said Dr. Khoshafian.  “In order to ensure success, these agencies
need a complete BPM suite to drive optimal efficiency and agility, while also delivering
greater transparency and measureable ROI.
BPM tremendously enhances the responsiveness of government agencies through
its automated and digitized policies and procedures. The automation of policies
and procedures through the use of BPM minimizes the potential for people to become
bottlenecks in processes, and enables them to focus on tasks where they are empowered,
truly needed, and could have the most benefit.”

Dr. Khoshafian is a recognized BPM pioneer and expert who has
productized through R&D and innovations in a number of domains including Business
Process Management, Service Oriented Architectures, Database Management, and Object
