Senior Principal Pega Engineer

Job Category: Information Technology
Location: US - Massachusetts - Waltham

Meet Our Team:

The Digital team at Pegasystems creates, maintains, and continuously improves the websites that help people learn, sell and buy Pega applications. The 8+ digital properties we work on span internal and external audiences across offices in North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific region.

Picture Yourself at Pega:

We're looking for an experienced Pega developer to join our growing global team. You'll work with a diverse global team of developers, designers, and content creators to help shape the digital experience across multiple web properties.

Please note we are unfortunately unable to provide sponsorship now or in the future for this position.

What You'll Do at Pega:

  • Build and iterate on our next-generation enablement platform at a rapid pace — from early prototypes to production-ready products built on Pega Launchpad and Pega Platform
  • Ship frequently and confidently, prioritizing momentum and delivering value to users over perfection on paper.
  • Collaborate directly with executive stakeholders and translate high-level vision into working software — sometimes on very tight timelines.
  • Take full ownership of features and workstreams, driving them from concept through delivery with minimal handholding
  • Embrace a build-measure-learn cycle: prototype quickly, gather user feedback, and pivot without hesitation when the direction changes
  • Build with the end user in mind — develop a deep understanding of who they are, what they need, and what will make them love the product
  • Build and code enterprise class digital applications.
  • Distil complex requirements into bite sized technical specs.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, product owners, and development team members to facilitate understanding of deliverables, estimates, and prioritization.

Who You Are:

  • Genuinely excited about generative AI. You see GenAI as an opportunity, not a buzzword, and you're eager to build with it
  • Curious about Launchpad, Buddy, and the newest Pega features. You want to push the limits of new technology rather than stick with what feels safe.
  • A builder, not a theorist. You write clean, readable code and you write it fast. You'd rather ship a pragmatic solution today than architect an elegant abstraction next month. You value clarity over cleverness
  • Genuinely fast. You have a bias toward action and a track record of delivering at a pace that surprises people. You're comfortable setting ambitious timelines — and hitting most of them
  • Scrappy and adaptable. New language? New framework? Whole project pivot overnight? You're not just okay with it — you're energized by it. You learn by doing and you learn quickly
  • Product owner mentality. You think like a product owner, not just an engineer. You care about why you're building something, not just how. You bring ideas to the table and take initiative without waiting for permission
  • Comfortable in the spotlight. You can hold your own in a room with VPs and C-level executives, communicating complex technical concepts clearly and confidently
  • Resilient and energized by high-impact work. This role has periods of high intensity around key milestones and launches, balanced by time to recharge and reset. You're someone who can sustain that rhythm and thrive in it
  • A strong collaborator. You take the work seriously but not yourself. You communicate openly, bring positive energy, and make the people around you better

What You've Accomplished:

  • 7+ years of professional software development or testing experience, with a strong engineering foundation
  • Comfortable working in an agentic engineering environment, using GenAI tooling to rapidly prototype and build applications
  • Experience building headless Pega applications using a non-Pega front end.
  • Experience in building Pega applications with using GenAI Connect and Agent Rules

Pega Offers You:

  • Gartner Analyst acclaimed technology leadership across our categories of products
  • Continuous learning and development opportunities
  • An innovative, inclusive, agile, flexible, and fun work environment
  • Competitive global benefits program inclusive of pay + Bonus incentive and Employee Equity in the company
