Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Decisioning Data

By joining our team, you will contribute to the development of the Pega Customer Decision Hub platform, which leverages big data analysis and artificial intelligence (AI) to provide a real-time interaction management framework. This framework enables companies to anticipate customer needs, predict their behaviors, and ultimately improve their engagement.

In this role, you will lead two engineering teams delivering core Big Data capabilities and the platform components that run them in public cloud environments. You’ll set direction, grow leaders, raise engineering standards, and collaborate closely with product and platform stakeholders to achieve predictable, high-quality outcomes. Technology stack includes Java SE, Tomcat, Gradle, Jenkins, Docker, AWS, Kubernetes, and other industry-standard tools. What You'll Do at Pega:
- Lead & scale teams: Manage 2+ engineering teams (and their leads), set clear goals and roadmaps, and drive consistent, on-time delivery of complex platform features.
- Own platform outcomes: Guide architecture and implementation of distributed data storage and processing (streaming & batch), ensuring availability, performance, security, and cost efficiency.
- Cloud-ready delivery: Oversee solutions that deploy to public cloud (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, networking, identity, storage); apply containerization & orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) appropriately to achieve portability, scalability, and operability.
- Engineering excellence: Establish quality gates, testing strategies, SLIs/SLOs, code review practices, and robust CI/CD; drive observability (metrics, logs, alerts) and incident/postmortem rigor.
- Cross-functional partnership: Work closely with product management, architecture, operations, security, and support to align priorities, shape requirements, and make traceable, high-impact decisions.
- Proactive leadership: Anticipate risks and dependencies early; initiate improvements in reliability, performance, and developer productivity; escalate effectively with data and options.
- Talent & culture: Hire, coach, and develop engineers and leads; build inclusive, high ownership teams; champion continuous learning and clear career paths.
Who You Are:
You’re a pragmatic, results-oriented leader with deep engineering roots who can operate at the architecture, delivery, and people levels. You communicate with clarity, influence across organizations, and strike a balance between near-term outcomes and long-term platform health.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; adept at stakeholder alignment and executive-level updates
- Strong command of balancing near-term delivery with long-term platform health
- Demonstrated initiative and autonomy in driving complex engineering programs
What You've Accomplished:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 12+ years of experience in software/data engineering, including 5+ years in engineering leadership (managing multiple teams and developing managers/tech leads)
- Designed, built, and delivered highly scalable distributed data systems at enterprise scale (high availability, low latency, data integrity, resiliency)
- Proven experience with Big Data technologies: streaming systems, large-scale batch processing, NoSQL/columnar stores, and API/integration design
- Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (infrastructure, identity, networking, storage) and container orchestration (Kubernetes), including deployment, scaling, and runtime security best practices
- Implemented robust engineering delivery practices: CI/CD, test strategies, architectural reviews, incident response, root cause analysis, and technical debt management
- Experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages, including but not limited to: Java, Python
