Pega Discover: Intelligent Automation Online Summit: Intelligent Automation Using Pega in Grid Modernization

Southern California Edison intends to build the grid of the future to support more clean energy, make way for more electric vehicles and to protect against the impacts of extreme weather as part of its Grid Modernization program. A key pillar in the program is to support interconnection of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) to SCE’s grid. Grid Interconnection Processing Tool (GIPT) allows Customers to submit interconnection requests, under SCE’s interconnection tariffs. It provides a platform to optimize the cross functional business processes.

The solution built on PEGA, established an Intelligent Automation Framework for processing expected high volumes of Interconnection Requests and increasing regulatory requirements. It provided a scalable solution, to include future Rule 21 application variants with minimal efforts and enhanced control mechanism provided to business users, to make real time changes depending on regulatory requirements. The Interactive User Experience provided to customers minimized the need for external help and ensured SCE’s goals of Clean Energy Pathway, increased customer satisfaction and overall efficiency were attained.
