Senior Full Stack Web Developer (PHP)

The Digital Team at Pegasystems creates, maintains, and continuously improves the websites that help people learn about, sell, and buy Pega applications. We are a growing, global group of developers that work on digital properties spanning internal and external audiences across North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific Region.

Picture Yourself at Pega:

In this role you will join our global, diverse team of content creators, developers, and designers to help shape the content editor experience across multiple MediaWiki and Drupal 8 properties. You'll also be a key member of the Digital Team, which unifies the look and feel across all Pega's public facing digital properties, including MediaWiki, Drupal and Pega implementations.

What You'll Do at Pega:

Craft and reinforce a heavily augmented, mission critical collaboration tool utilizing MediaWiki for a large userbase.

• Develop, optimize and drive strategic decisions for robust PHP-based solutions, collaborating with senior-level peers to maintain high standards.
• Utilize frontend languages and techniques such as (S)CSS, Vue.js, and (Object-Oriented) JavaScript to enhance user experiences and ensure seamless interaction with PHP backend systems.
• Implement DevOps practices to streamline workflows, ensuring scalability and system reliability.
• Stay updated on fast-moving trends like GenAI, integrating them effectively into development strategies.
• Integrate solutions seamlessly with enterprise systems, maximizing efficiency across teams.
• Proactively resolve complex issues within PHP-based systems, leveraging tools like New Relic to ensure optimal performance in production.
• Work with the test automation team to implement continuous regression test suites as new features are implemented
• Work with Digital Team to deliver outstanding user experiences 

Who You Are:

• You have a passion for learning and applying new technology
• You have at least 6-8 years of experience in PHP and working in the software industry
• You are willing to be an active member in the MediaWiki community
• You enjoy and are committed to collaboration and teamwork in all facets of Web development
• You adapt well to shifting priorities, and timelines using analytical and problem-solving skills as well as strong oral and written communication skills.

What You've Accomplished:

• You have expert knowledge of PHP and are willing to utilize this in a MediaWiki framework
• You have successfully developed and maintained PHP-based applications, preferably with experience in MediaWiki or similar platforms, that have served large user bases.
• Solid experience with web security (SS0, Authentication, secure coding practices and more)
• You have extensive experience with Linux and AWS environments, using GitOps practices and Docker. Having used AWS Fargate and ECS is a pre.
• You are able to use scripting languages such as Bash or Python
• You are familiar with Bootstrap, Vue.js, SCSS, and Object-Oriented JavaScript
• You have experience with Mustache or are willing to learn
• You have experience in leveraging Elasticsearch and Redis
• You have experience in test frameworks such as TestCafe or Playwright, unit testing and preferably end-to-end testing
• You are a proponent of using monitoring tools such as New Relic, and have experience with techniques such as tracing and endpoint monitoring
• Four- year degree
