Picture Yourself at Pega:

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer with over six years of technical experience to support architectural planning, provide guidance on complex system design decisions, and contribute to the development of AI and agentic features within our engineering team. This position entails both practical system design and responsibility for overseeing collaborative execution across teams.

What You'll Do at Pega:

  • Own architectural decisions, balancing performance, reliability, maintainability, and cost for optimal solutions.
  • Set and uphold high standards for code quality, design patterns, and development best practices across engineering teams.
  • Architect integrated systems using multiple services, databases, and third-party tools, with thorough validation and monitoring strategies.
  • Drive research and implementation of agentic AI features and prompt engineering to enable intelligent automation and advanced decision-making.
  • Mentor senior engineers, conduct technical reviews, and foster a culture of continuous learning and engineering excellence.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into actionable technical solutions.

Who You Are:

You are an experienced technical professional with a strong commitment to customer success without compromising integrity. You are a problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative team environment who wants to focus on building, maintaining, and supporting next-generation solutions.

What You've Accomplished:

  • 6-8 years of software engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in system design, distributed architectures, and scalable backend development.
  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in modern programming languages such as Java, with a strong background in asynchronous programming, high-performance applications, and system design—including microservices, databases (SQL/NoSQL), message queues, and API development.
  • Scripting and automation experience for tooling, deployment pipelines, and system integration tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple engineering teams to lead technical initiatives, establish engineering standards, and develop mentorship programs that elevate team performance.
  • Keen interest in agentic AI and prompt engineering with willingness to rapidly learn and apply new AI technologies to solve business problems
  • Good to have knowledge of Pega Customer Decision Hub (CDH)
