Caring for More than our Veterans: Modernizing the VA Family Member Program

The Office of Integrated Veteran Care (IVC) Veteran Family Member Program (VFMP) provides benefits to veterans, spouses, children, and caregivers of a veteran through five lesser known but federally mandated programs within the VA. In 2022, the time required to determine eligibility for the VFMP hit a critical state – six months from physical mail submission to eligibility determination. Join us as we discuss the road to recovery through the history of the program, the root causes of these delays, and how both the renovation of legacy systems and embracing the program’s rapid growth led the IVC to vastly improved responsiveness of this critical program.
