According to the company, Pega Express is based on its decades of low-code software development experience, and provides a guided drag-and-drop interface within Pega Platform’s App Studio environment.
It focuses on the design of 'microjourneys' such as “inquire about service,” “dispute a charge,” or “onboard a new partner,” and then the processes associated with the microjourney.
Pega Express takes into consideration the different personas and channels involved. For example, a loan application may involve a customer, a customer service agent and a lending manager. Relevant channels might be a self-service portal, mobile device, or a desktop, and each persona may use one or more channels.

Pega Express also provides a complete view of the relevant data sources – such as CRM or ERP systems, or standalone databases.
Pega Platform uses this information to automatically generate the application and accompanying documentation.
The first product release can be achieved in a matter of weeks, according to Pegasystems. The Pega Express methodology can then be used to add new app functionality as business needs change.
“By incorporating design-thinking principles into how applications are created, we have turbocharged the pace of change in digital transformation,” said Pegasystems CTO and vice president of product marketing Don Schuerman.
“By infusing Pega Express methodology within Pega Platform, we’ve reinvented how businesspeople can engage with and evolve the systems that run their business, allowing them to quickly react to customer needs and stay ahead of competitors.”
The Pega Express methodology will be available with the release of Pega Platform 8.4 expected at the end of February 2020.
