What a difference three years makes! My first PegaWORLD, in June 2013, featured a Public Sector track focused on government’s ability, or lack of ability, to respond predictably and timely to their forces of change. Our successful customers – including New South Wales Transport Management Center and Texas County and District Retirement System – showcased how they built systems with change in mind, driven by business rules and analytics that could help in their decision processes.
Last year, at PegaWORLD 2014, the theme advanced to the need for government agility to respond to changing workforce and customer engagement. Customers such as the FBI, US Department of Agriculture, the State of Maine, New Jersey Courts, and the US Treasury told some remarkable stories about their success in engaging constituents, simplifying work, and enabling predictable and timely response to change. For example, Maine officials are now resolving unemployment claims in a small fraction of the time they used to take to resolve them (2 days or less vs. a federal goal of 21 days). New South Wales Transport Management Centre has even exposed a number of sub-processes that were never documented, among other benefits they’ve seen by using an agile process.
This year, when PegaWORLD takes place in Orlando, Fla., on June 7-9, Jim Smith, State CIO for Maine, will be a panelist on a Cloud roundtable, discussing the State’s cloud-first strategy and success in leveraging the cloud to accelerate and simplify the implementation of strategic applications in the State of Maine.
The State’s successes will also be highlighted in their own dedicated session titled Agile Government. There, Maine will detail how they have gone beyond the business processes to create a high-performing organization and a culture that embraces change. The United States Department of Agriculture and New Jersey Courts will also highlight their journey toward digital government with a critical first step of building for change with an enterprise view.
Only at PegaWORLD will you be able to hear these fabulous success stories focusing on the ability to build for change and reuse everything possible across your government organization. I hope you can join us.
