Welcome to our Employee Spotlight series where we discuss #LifeAtPega with varying team members across our organization. Say “hello” to Rosely. Rosely, based out of our Reading, UK office, has been a beloved member of the Pega team since 2012.

Learn more about Rosely below, including how she found her way to Pega and what keeps her coming back each day.

1. Describe your career journey. What led you to Pega?

Prior to Pega, I had worked in the hotel industry, specifically event management. After many years, I wanted to get away from shift and weekend work to spend more time with my family. I was a stay-at-home mom for four years before I saw an ad for a temp receptionist at Pega. The job was supposed to be for a week, but I never left. I’m going on five years now.

2. What’s your favorite Pega memory thus far?

My Pega highlight was winning the Chairman’s Award and the subsequent group trip to Mexico. It felt gratifying to be recognized and nominated by my peers.

3. How has your career developed at Pega? What job changes have you made?

I started as the receptionist for the EMEA headquarters. From there I was promoted to an executive assistant about a year ago. What I love about my job now is that I’m focused solely on supporting the needs of a global Sales leader. That’s very rewarding to me.

4. What skills were you looking to gain from your latest career move? What drove your interest in this position?

For me, it was a difficult decision because I loved my previous job. I loved interacting with everyone, being the smiling face as they entered the office and helping to brighten up their days, even just a little. I could help my coworkers solve their problems. What interested me about my new role was the opportunity to see and focus in on a different side of the business. I knew that would help me to grow professionally.

5. What advice do you have for people who want to expand their career at Pega?

Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Just go for it. New roles are always challenging at first, but they help you to keep learning. Know that you won’t be alone as you transition. There’s always someone there to help.

6. What do you enjoy about Pega’s culture?

I love the community and familiar aspect of our office. Everybody pitches in and helps one another out. That, for me, is a treasure to see each day.

7. A strong work-life balance is important. What do you like to do outside of the office?

I’m a Brazilian now living in the United Kingdom so I like to try to keep warm! But in all honesty, I love dancing. Dancing and music is so pleasurable for me because it brings people together; which helps keep me warm. On top of that, I love helping my church with charitable projects. That also, keeps me warm.

8. In your lifetime, what do you think has been the most impactful piece of technology? Why?

For me, it’s definitely Skype. It allows me to see and easily communicate with my family back home in Rio de Janeiro. What a game changer!

9. On your phone/tablet, what’s your favorite app and why?

This is a bit funny, but my favorite app is National Rail Enquiries. It tells me whether the train will be late or not. It’s an absolute life saver--there’s nothing worse than wasting time.
