Texas Department of Transportation Leverages Pegasystems for Modernization
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Aug. 16, 2012 – Pegasystems Inc. (NASDAQ: PEGA), the leader in Business Process Management (BPM) and a leading provider of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solutions, today announced that the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is leveraging Pega technology and iBridge Group delivery services as part of a modernization initiative to improve and revitalize its enterprise‐wide business architecture. TxDOT is using Pega’s advanced Build for Change® technology to streamline operations, increase business agility, and reduce risk in connection with its existing legacy systems.
The large state agency is able to develop capabilities to continuously identify and implement innovative changes over time. Austin-based TxDOT, which comprises 21 divisions and six offices and more than 12,000 employees, is eyeing enterprise-wide improvements beginning with its Construction Division which allocates state funds for use in road projects. After engaging an independent audit firm to identify opportunities for improved operating performance, the agency and the Texas Transportation Commission found TxDOT’s technology did not meet modern requirements.
Pegasystems offers a faster and more effective way to transform aging legacy systems than either packaged applications or internal development options. By giving agencies like TxDOT greater ability to manage change quickly and securely, Pega helps reduce waste, achieve greater efficiency and improve citizen services. Agencies can leverage existing investments to quickly achieve enhanced functionality at a low total cost of ownership.
As a recognized industry leader, Pega is driving successful modernization initiatives at nearly 20 government agencies globally.
Quotes & Commentary:
Dave Dantus, Director, Public Sector Solutions at Pegasystems
“There’s an increased demand for Pega technology from federal and state agencies as they look for cost-effective ways to modernize and transform their operations. Our Build for Change® technology will help TxDOT achieve immediate operational efficiencies and effectiveness, and also ensure it can meet the state’s strategic transportation challenges of the future.”
Tim Lindstrom, CEO, iBridge Group
“Due to the growing demands of today’s world, government services must be delivered ever more rapidly, and with increased capacity. Yet many core systems that state and local agencies once relied on to run many business processes are now becoming liabilities, rather than assets. Pega will be instrumental for its ability to deliver significant organizational transformation.”
