Pegasystems Selected by Independence Blue Cross to Help Optimize Sales and Claims Processes
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – August 1, 2007 – Pegasystems Inc. (NASDAQ: PEGA), the leader in business process management, today announced that Independence Blue Cross (IBC) has licensed Pegasystems SmartBPM® Suite, including several of its health care solution frameworks, to optimize sales, underwriting, renewals and claims processing activities. Pegasystems' flexible and scalable platform will help IBC improve the automation of customer-facing processes that typically require manual steps and multiple handoffs. IBC will begin using the product in the first quarter of 2008.
Independence Blue Cross (including its subsidiaries) is the largest health insurer in southeastern Pennsylvania, with more than 2.6 million members locally and 3.4 million nationally. With nearly 9,500 employees, IBC annually processes more than 32 million claims and responds to over 6 million customer inquiries. The company will use Pegasystems SmartBPM Suite and the Sales Process Manager™ (SPM) software to more easily provide its customers and sales prospects with tailored offerings, plus prompt and personalized multi-quote proposals for an enhanced customer experience. The initial rollout will support the large group rating, underwriting and proposal package generation for IBC’s new and renewing business.
Additionally, IBC selected Pegasystems Claims Repair™ and Claims Workstation+™ solution frameworks to optimize claims processing. Pegasystems software will be used to increase the number of IBC claims that are processed without any manual intervention, reducing the number of pending claims and improving the productivity of claims examiners.
