Pegasystems Gives Care Managers Tools to Provide Complete 360 Degree View of Patient Care

Enhancements to Pega Care Management for Healthcare improves collaboration, data management, personalization, and customer service

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – September 8, 2015 – Pegasystems Inc. (NASDAQ: PEGA), the software company empowering the world’s leading enterprises with strategic business applications, today announced enhancements to the Pega Care Management for Healthcare application that enables care managers to provide the highest level of customized care to improve patient health outcomes.

Healthcare organizations struggle to deliver targeted, cost effective, and personalized health management services that promote the best outcomes and meet consumer service expectations of highly diversified populations, from millennials to seniors. In the emerging post-reform market, care management has become a strategic tool for healthcare organizations to engage customers, resulting in better cost and quality outcomes, as well as improved patient loyalty. The Almanac of Chronic Disease estimates that improved prevention and disease management across all populations could save the healthcare industry more than $1 trillion by 2023.

Pega Care Management for Healthcare uniquely leverages Pega’s best-in-class business process management (BPM) and customer relationship management (CRM) technology for case, disease, utilization and wellness management programs. The highly adaptive and flexible application enables customized, targeted interactions, productive consumer engagement, and improved operations and outcomes across all populations.

Key release enhancements include:

  • Integration with Pega Clinical Interaction Manager: Pega Care Management for Healthcare is now integrated with Pega Customer Service for Healthcare through the Pega Clinical Interaction Manager. Pega Clinical Interaction Manager is the first in the market to integrate customer service and care management to give health organizations a 360 degree view of all customer interactions, enhancing their ability to engage customers, improve health outcomes, and reduce costs.
  • Expanded content library. Personalized care plans increase patient satisfaction and improve health outcomes. With an expanded library of reusable care plan templates, Pega Care Management for Healthcare saves care managers from rewriting the same standard information for each case by allowing them to build upon pre-existing content. These templates include care disciplines and processes for diabetes, asthma, orthopedic, quality of life health risk assessment, fall risk, pain assessment, medication risk, pre-surgery home safety, and barriers.
  • Access to unstructured patient notes: Unstructured data is one of the greatest untapped resources of care management information. New functionality provides better organization and access to unstructured patient notes, which can be sorted, searched, filtered, and secured through role-based access, to provide a more holistic view of a patient and more accurate care recommendations.
  • Accelerated concurrent review team collaboration: Enhanced concurrent review leverages Pega’s sophisticated, industry-leading BPM and case management workflow automation to accelerate clinical review and clinical team collaboration with supporting context. This includes extensive access to review notes and integration of industry guidelines for highly efficient and personalized responses.
