Pegasystems Announces Siebel Validation, Joins Siebel Alliance Program

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Sep 3, 2002 — Pegasystems Becomes Partner; Successfully Integrates Its PegaWORKS RULES ENGINE Version 7.2 with Siebel eBusiness Applications Version 6

Pegasystems Inc. (NASDAQ: PEGA), a leader in rules-driven business process automation software, today announced that it has joined the Siebel Alliance Program as a base Software Partner and has successfully validated the integration between its PegaWORKS RULES ENGINE version 7.2 and Siebel eBusiness Applications version 6. Siebel Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SEBL) is the world's leading provider of eBusiness applications software.

Pegasystems' rules-driven exception management and fulfillment solutions enable organizations to automate their critical business processes and transform their best practices into corporate assets. Siebel Systems provides an integrated family of eBusiness applications software, enabling multichannel sales, marketing, and customer service systems to be deployed over the Web, in call centers, in the field, through reseller channels, and across retail and dealer networks. With this validation, customers of Siebel Systems and Pegasystems can utilize Pegasystems' patented rules engine's process automation to drive their business processes and enable Straight-Through Processing (STP) of service requests, resulting in increased productivity and reduced servicing costs.

The integration of PegaWORKS with Siebel eBusiness Applications allows users to minimize manual work efforts, integrate front office and back office processes from point of contact to execution of work, and facilitate rapid response to changing business requirements by enabling business users to change the rules that drive workflow processes.

PegaINTEGRATOR is the product that enables Siebel eBusiness Applications users to invoke a PegaWORKS RULES ENGINE workflow through a frame in the Siebel client. Using this technology, organizations can deploy Pegasystems' preconfigured, industry-specific workflows for service and exception management or create custom workflow processes that meet their unique needs. The PegaWORKS RULES ENGINE and PegaINTEGRATOR are currently available and are licensed through Pegasystems Inc.

"The integration of PegaWORKS RULES ENGINE and PegaINTEGRATOR with Siebel eBusiness Applications allows our joint customers to automate their business processes," said Joe Friscia, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Pegasystems. "This increases user productivity and improves customer service, while decreasing costs."

"Pegasystems' pre-configured workflows reduce implementation time and costs," said Michael Straub, Alliances Technical Director for Siebel Systems. "The patented and extensible Pegasystems rules engine is highly flexible and configurable, and enables Siebel Systems' customers to rapidly adapt to changing business requirements, just as they demand."

Siebel Systems forms alliances with proven technology leaders to deliver tangible business benefits throughout the enterprise. By choosing Siebel eBusiness Applications and validated partner solutions, Siebel Systems' customers can pursue a best-of-class software acquisition strategy and quickly deploy the best solution available. The Siebel Validation Program applies rigorous technical scrutiny to evaluate the integration of third-party solutions with Siebel eBusiness Applications. Integrations that meet the rigorous standards of Siebel Systems' testing criteria are validated and documented by the Siebel Alliance Program.
