This well-known U.S.-based healthcare provider is a health care services company whose subsidiaries and affiliates own and operate acute care hospitals and related ancillary health care businesses. It has operations from coast-to-coast, including hospitals, outpatient centers, and corporate & business offices.

Business Issue

Faced with stand-alone Ethics and Compliance Program solutions constrained by technical limitations this large publicly traded healthcare provider organization was under pressure to re-platform, re-engineer and expand its governance, risk and compliance capabilities.

Impact

This premier healthcare provider needed a solution that could handle migration of existing rules and processes from multiple different vendor solutions, provide a much more technically powerful platform, and support expansion – deeper and broader – of BPM across the enterprise. The solutions targeted for migration are mission-critical to the five-year corporate integrity agreement (CIA) with the Office of Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.

Solution

The large healthcare provider used Pegasystems initially as the foundation for all of its governance, risk and compliance (GRC) domain solutions. Within one year all these systems had been migrated and were operational on the new Pegasystems platform. As follow on, all other BPM solutions across the enterprise were then migrated to Pegasystems. The Pegasystems platform resulted in other efficiencies, including allowing The provider to move to a 30-day build/enhance development cycle for all of its BPM solutions.
