All you need to do is be a registered member of the Pega Community Forums. Click here to register.
What are the rules of the road?
This is a professional network, so we expect everyone to treat each other with respect. Please write clear questions and responses. Re-read everything you write before posting, to be sure your message will make sense to everyone.
Please leave commercial promotions out of your messages in the forum. Any postings containing impolite language or sounding purely commercial will be deleted by the Moderator. You risk having your membership cancelled, too.
Also, please upload a photo or image for your profile picture and tell us a bit about yourself in the profile section/my account tab.
How does my Forum Nickname work?
Your Forum Nickname is the name you choose during registration and what you will be known as in the discussion forum. It is a hyperlink listed next to every message you post. Other members can click it to go to your Profile page.
What is My Profile for?
Other members of the community will see your Forum Nickname with each of your postings. Your Forum Nickname is a hyperlink that takes members to a Profile page that displays as much or as little information as you like. We hope you will upload a photo or image, tell us a bit about yourself, and link to your Facebook and Linked In profile to help others get to know you. However, only the information that we ask for during registration is required. Other members will only see your forum nickname and your forum profile information. They will NOT see the email address you registered with or any other "member profile" information.
What's the deal with the Points?
The main idea behind the Points is to recognize the members who make valuable and frequent contributions to the community. The number of points you have determines your level, see the chart below.
No badge = 0-9
Newbie = 10-249
Ace = 250-999
Pro = 1,000-3499
Champ = 3,500-4999
Guru = 5,000+
How do I earn points?
Start posting and see if you can figure it out! HINT: There are many ways…and we promise to mix things up from time to time to keep things interesting.
What are the colored circle badges under my profile photo?
The colored circle badges indicate your level of participation in the forums. The more points you accumulate, the higher the level you have achieved.
Can I create a new forum post?
Yes. And we hope you will…a lot! Navigate to the relevant forum and click the "Start New Topic" button at the top of the page. For more detailed instructions please refer to: How do I create a new post?
How do I create a new post?
First, you must be registered and logged in. Then, follow the steps below:
- To create a new forum topic, navigate to the desired forum.
- From the forum's main page, click the "Start new topic" button.
- Input the subject of the topic, this will be the topic's title visible to users. HINT: The more interesting the subject of your post is, the more respondents you are likely to have!
- Via the "Forums" drop-menu, validate that the topic will be contained in the desired forum.
- The "Body" block content will be the topic's first post.
- Navigate to the "Publishing options" near the bottom of the page and ensure that the "Published" check box is selected.
- Click the "Save" button.
What do I do after I ask my question?
Check back regularly- at least twice a week - to review responses. A member may ask you a question to clarify what you're looking for. Be sure to respond quickly, so you can keep the conversation going. HINT: You can also subscribe to a forum to be notified by email or RSS when someone replies.
How do I reply to a forum message?
To reply to a forum message click the "Reply" button in the bottom right corner of the comment you would like to reply to. HINT: You have to be logged in to see the "reply" button.
Can I delete or edit a post I've created?
Yes. To edit a post click the "Edit" button in the bottom right corner of the comment you would like to change.
Can I create a new forum?
No. Only Community Managers can create new forums. However we are always interested in your suggestions, so please feel free to make requests and post them in the Feedback Forum.
How do I add a personal photo to my profile?
To add a picture to your profile, click the "My Account" link in the top left of the page. Select the "Forum Profile" tab. Next to the "Upload Picture" field, click Browse. Navigate to the picture you would like to use and click Open. At the bottom of the page, click Save Updates. You will be given a preview of the uploaded image.
What is the wall used for and who can see the messages?
The wall is used to communicate with other users outside of specific forums. Anyone can view messages posted to your wall.
What is "tell us your status" for?
Use the "tell us your status" section to let other users know what you are up to. Your status will appear on your profile page and above your picture each time you post. We hope you will change and update your status regularly.
What are private messages?
Private messages are messages you can send to another member within the forums. The message is sent to the member's forum account.
How do I send a private message?
To send a private message, click the "Messages" link in the top left of the page. Select the "Write a new message" tab. Enter the intended recipient's username in the "To" field. Enter your message and click Send Message. If you receive a private message, you will also receive an email in your profile email notifying you that you received a message.
How do I see who's online right now?
To see who is online, click the "Forums" link in the top left of the page. Select the "Who's Online" tab.
How do I know when there are new messages in a forum?
Forums with new messages will be displayed with a blue plus-sign on the forum's folder icon.
Can I get notified when new activity occurs in a forum?
Yes, you can! You may subscribe to a forum by e-mail or RSS. To subscribe by e-mail, from the "Forums" page select the forum you would like to subscribe to. Click the "Subscribe to the Forum" button near the top of the page. To subscribe by RSS select the "Sign up for RSS" icon from the top right of the forum you would like to subscribe to.
How do I unsubscribe from a forum?
From the forums section, select the "Notifications" tab. Choose Subscriptions. Click the "drop" link adjacent to the forum you would like to unsubscribe from.
How do I manage my subscriptions?
From the forums section, select the "Notifications" tab. Choose Subscriptions. Select the "edit" link to manage the settings of a particular subscription.
How do I manage my notifications?
From the "My Account" section select the "Forum Profile" tab. Scroll down to the "Messaging and Notifications" section and make any desired changes to you notification settings.
What is a hot thread?
Threads marked as "hot thread" are popular threads with active discussion.
What is a locked thread?
A locked thread is a closed topic to which posts can no longer be submitted.
What is a sticky thread?
A sticky thread is a thread that has been designated to remain at the top of the list even if new threads are posted.
Can I add HTML, images or links to a forum post?
HTML tags are not supported; however, you may add an image to a post by clicking the image icon in the top right of the comment box.
Will you give my email address to advertisers?
Absolutely not! We will never sell or rent your email address to anyone. WE VALUE YOUR PRIVACY! We hate spam as much as you do. Read our Privacy Policy, for more info.
How long do posts stay open?
Posts stay open as long as the discussion remains active. We encourage post authors to check on their questions at least twice a week. Pega moderators will typically leave discussions up and open, but they will typically stop checking them after about two weeks.
